Group Swim Lesson Registration

We are delighted you’re interested in enhancing your child’s swimming abilities!

Registration Information

For the upcoming swim season, we’ve increased available spaces by offering four sessions, each featuring five or six classes. To ensure wider access, each session will be capped at 10 swimmers and filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Lessons are complimentary for full-share members and $40 for associate members. To allow as many families as possible to participate, registration is limited to one child per session per family. We kindly request that children already enrolled in the swim team refrain from occupying lesson spots, as they will receive six weeks of dedicated instruction.

All sessions accommodate a range of skill levels, from beginner to advanced. Our instructors are committed to grouping children by ability within each session to optimize their learning experience.

Registration for swim lessons will open on: [Date TBD]

Beyond Group Lessons: Junior Stingrays Swim Team

For children with basic swimming skills who are ready for advanced techniques or a more consistent, six-week learning program, consider joining the Swan Lake Stingrays swim team as a Junior Stingray. The swim team is open to members’ children who are at least five years old and meet the prerequisites outlined on the swim team page. Find more information here: Swim Team

Your child is prepared for the Beginners class if they meet the following criteria:

  • At least five years old.
  • Ability to listen to the instructor and follow directions within a group of 10 swimmers.
  • Comfortable submerging their face in water and blowing bubbles (must be able to fully submerge for three seconds).
  • May or may not be able to “doggy paddle,” but cannot yet perform a front crawl with proper breathing (turning head to the side).
  • May or may not be able to float on their back; may sink if attempting to move while floating.

Advanced Beginners Class

The Advanced Beginners class aims to increase children’s comfort in both shallow and deep water. It teaches the fundamentals of front crawl and backstroke, and introduces breaststroke and elementary backstroke. For a detailed list of skills covered, please click here.

Your child is ready for the Advanced Beginners class if they can:

  • Comfortably float on both their front and back for 10 seconds.
  • Propel themselves through the water for 10 yards using a flutter kick on their front and back (arms are optional, but the head should be in the water when on the front).
